As we approach the new year, we find ourselves in a position synchronize changes in the B.S. of Comics with the progression of the calendar! This is kind of neat.
As unofficial head founder of the group, it is sort of up to me to pass on ideas that other members have put forward. And as I have been shouldering the brunt of organizing what little we actually do for the past several years, I am ready for some of the ideas that I’ve been hearing in the past couple of months.
Mostly, we’ve been talking about becoming more organized and maybe going in on a shared studio/gallery space so that we could have some sort of a group show every gallery walk!
But I’ve always striven to emphasize the egalitarian and anarchic nature of the B.S. and even if we’re going to become less anarchic, you deserve to give the rest of the group your input.
What would you like the Bellingham School of Comics to do for you? What would you like to get out of being part of the group?
If you’re already getting what you want out of the group, you should definitely let us know what that is, too. It’s always good to know what you’re getting right!
You can either comment here, or you can use a personal message to me. I’ll keep all personal messages anonymous and/or confidential to the other members, in case you want to remain politic for an reason.

Hi!
Although sometimes I feel that when we meet, it’s more social than work, I still get some of the synergy effects.
Like, six weeks ago, I started my face paint project, and I’ve felt more disciplined about sticking with it than I think I would have without having been part of the group. I realize I haven’t been very active with attending meetings, but I also started a new graduate program on top of trying to figure out how to display my face paint project publicly (my main issue was needing control over the layout). That more or less worked out this past week; you can see my 3D comics at http://vanessa-raney6gallery.blogspot.com (I’ll have Series 5 up tomorrow; then, next week, I’ll be adding each new series on a weekly basis).
One thing to work on, though, is communication. For example, I’d like to be part of discussions about different comics techniques, etc. It might also be nice to sometimes work on a focused theme together (kind of like what you would’ve done with the 24 comics); like, I think it’d be great if we could be doing art together, and to share our interpretations of, say, a dark and cloudy night. lol
Most likely, though, I won’t be as active as I once was with the group until the weather gets warmer. But I will make the effort to be at meetings at least once or twice a month. (Like I probably won’t make it to tonight’s meeting because I have an interlibrary loan book that’s due tomorrow; so that’ll be my primary focus for today.)
