Today was a great turn out for a Monday meeting. We collected enough money for the booth at comic con!

I’m sending it in tomorrow and will keep you all updated! Those of you who paid for the booth be sure to start bringing in your prints to sell or show.

Be sure to include an artist statement, Price List for each item,  business cards…or if you don’t have them please give us a nice tag with your name on it. This is an all ages show…so if you have naked time fun art/comics they need to be labeled and sealed from prying eyes.

I will be collecting all this up until Oct. 24th the day of the con…I will be at B.S of comics on Mondays or you can call me…NOTE: dont call unless you really need to…I’m always in class:(

Thanks ya’ll

Monday Meeting: Show Deadline!

We have our regular meeting today at the usual time and the usual place:

5-7pm at the Black Drop on 300 W. Champion, Downtown Bellingham!

Please do come on down and break out some cartooning stuff with the rest of us!

Also, bring a ready to hang piece of artwork for the October show. It gets hung in a week and a half (Thurs. Oct 1). Today, next Monday and the day of the hanging are the last days you can drop off your work!

It really doesn’t have to be something entirely new. It doesn’t have to be finished work. It could be sketches. Typically, it’s anything that you’ve done in the past five years that hasn’t been put in the show. Seriously. It’s that easy.

Thanks!

October Bellingham Comics Month Art Show

This is a call to artists. This is a call to you.

If you’ve got a piece of comic related artwork (or if you’re heavily influenced by comics and have made some sort of art at all), please consider submitting your work to the October B.S. of Comics Show! It can be anything you haven’t submitted for this show before, so it can be years old even. It is a chance to show off part of your latest project, but the scope of the show is extremely wide in order to broaden the public’s perception of the word “comics” and just how much influence the art form has.

We’ve sort of unofficially co-opted October as our month. And what we do every October since our first year is cram the walls of the Black Drop Coffee House with artwork.

Now the best (and only) way to submit your work is to bring it down to the Black Drop on one of the following Mondays before October 1st. It must be mounted with a secure hook on the back for hanging. I repeat, it must be ready to hang.

You’ll need to provide me with the name of your piece and the price if you wish to sell it. You can make your own tag if you like, maybe from the same matting material you used to mount your art (even corrugated cardboard has been used successfully in the past).

And you’ll need to sign this little piece of paper I have that’s sort of a release form.

The first of October is a Thursday, and it’s coming up really fast! You can bring your artwork in then as I’m hanging the show. I typically tackle the walls during one of the morning lulls, but I’ll stick around long enough to put up some straggling works. But too many last minute art and it becomes chaos, so I request you bring it in earlier if you can.

Tear Down is Halloween, October 31st, which is a Saturday, and you will need to pick up your artwork on that day or the following Monday.

Thanks!
